So, you have an electric guitar...
Sam and his screamin' Indiana Strat style guitar
I wanted to take a different approach in teaching the guitar. I do not teach it just musically but I teach it as
a sort of an extension of the person playing it. I think it is important to ‘put on’ and prepare to experience
the guitar. I find this helps to be more comfortable in learning and growing.

I have tried teaching folks the guitar in the past and they would quit after two or three lessons. They
become frustrated. The begin to understand that it takes time (lots) and hard work to be able to rip off
leads like Van Halen. They have no discipline, no passion, and they will not sacrifice the time required.
So, I decided to look at it from the approach I took. I am self taught. I hated the guitar on and off for the
first few months I was learning. I expected too much from myself and from time to time the frustration would
bring me nearly to tears. Now the guitar is to me like a singers voice is to them. It is a very personal thing,
an intimate thing, a revealing thing.

I have personally been influenced by many different guitar players but the big ones that stand out are
Neal Schon, Jimmy Page, Buddy Guy, and Jack White. Each one of these players I have wanted to in
same way or the other emulate their styles and attitudes toward the guitar. But, it is Jack White that I
identify most with. I share in his being drawn to cheap damaged raw guitars and toward an edgy sound. I
am not as impressed with those who can shred on a Paul Reed Smith, Gibson, Hammer, or whatever...it is
the guys who can pick up the Hondo's, the Kay's, the True Tone's and still out play those other guys in
sound and creativity- THAT is a true guitarist and one I seek to become!

As you will see from the guitars listed here you will not find any real expensive ones. I can't afford them for
one and two the ones I have listed here and the ones you will ever see me post here are those that I can
make a musical impact with, my personal guitar honor roll, if you will. These guitars have been properly
setup and tweaked to get the optimal performance from them and I believe each one of them can 'run with
the big boys' and silence the mouths of their critics.

I hope that this information will serve as an encouragement and a blessing to you!
